Tharaka Nithi County can now boast of 120 health facilities after Governor Muthomi Njuki launched the newest facility, Kithanya Dispensary in Igambang’ombe Ward.
Governor Njuki, in his address during the official commissioning of the dispensary, noted that his administration had constructed 27 new health facilities since 2017, with the development of health infrastructure as one of the fundamental pillars of his leadership.
"The construction of this dispensary is necessitated by the need to achieve the highest possible standard of healthcare and expand service delivery packages."
"This dispensary will help reduce the distance traveled by residents seeking healthcare services. Some had to go all the way to Kabururu, Kamwimbi, and Igamatundu to get medical attention. That time can now be used for other economic and social activities," Governor Njuki said.

Services offered at the newly commissioned Kithanya Dispensary include laboratory services, antenatal care, family planning, and child welfare services such as immunization.
The Governor noted plans to expand the dispensary into a health center, with a 10-bed capacity maternity unit, a kitchen, and a waiting bay.

Njuki also hit out at critics claiming that the county government built the dispensary on private land, clarifying that the land was made available by residents for the construction of a dispensary, police post, and stadium.
"There has been a lot of politics surrounding the construction of this dispensary. Three parcels of land were made available, with this particular one reserved for a dispensary. The title deeds are in the hands of the county government of Tharaka Nithi," Njuki said.

The statement was reiterated by County Assembly Speaker John Mbabu, who noted that the government cannot construct or update any infrastructure projects on privately owned land, accusing opponents of spreading misinformation.
Other leaders present included Deputy Governor Wilson Nyaga Muisrael, Majority Leader Justin Kithinji, MCAs Zachary Njagi, Godfrey Murithi Gaturo, Anita Mbae, Jacob Ndeke, and other county government officials.
