Governor Muthomi Njuki, MP Patrick Munene, and Speaker John Mbabu, in what appears to be a newly forged bromance, have called for unity, peace, and calm during President William Ruto’s visit to Tharaka-Nithi this Sunday.

The three leaders, seemingly reading from the same script, urged their supporters to tone down political temperatures in the county and unite ahead of the President’s tour.

Speaking in Chuka during an inspection of the Chuka Modern Market, which is expected to be officially handed over by President Ruto during the visit, Governor Njuki noted that elected leaders and other politicians had agreed to unite and speak with one voice, a deliberate show of solidarity to the President and the government.

“The President does not cast his vote here. Let us not bombard him with local politics or wash our dirty linen in public. Give him respect so that we can benefit more,” Njuki said.

Governor Njuki emphasized that only through unity would the county secure more government projects, urging all political camps to come together and welcome the President to Tharaka-Nithi.

“Our President will be here to officially hand over the market to us. We are united, speaking in one voice. From where the market has come, other projects can also be achieved. We need more projects, and unity is the key. We want the President to hand over the market as we ask for additional developments,” he said.

“We want to call for unity and ask other leaders to cool political temperatures. Local politics should not dominate tomorrow, we want peace. We don’t want competition when the President is here,” the Governor warned.

Njuki also thanked traders for their cooperation in paving the way for the construction of the new modern market, promising that all traders would soon be accommodated in the new facility.

Chuka Igambang’ombe MP Patrick Munene echoed the call for peace and calm, saying unity and solidarity would strengthen Deputy President Kithure Kindiki’s standing and help him consolidate support from the President.

“We will lobby for more projects during the President’s visit. The government has delivered. Let us show them that Kithure Kindiki is at home. Let us not humiliate our Deputy President in his backyard by playing local politics,” Munene said.

Speaker John Mbabu also urged residents to allow elected leaders to lobby for projects from the President, joining in the collective call for peace and unity.
