The recent economic empowerment forum in Kapseret Constituency, Uasin Gishu County, where goods worth KSh 45 million were handed over to residents, alongside a record-breaking KSh 100 million fundraiser for local development, has sparked conversations among Tharaka Nithi residents.
Many observers are crediting Governor Muthomi Njuki for pioneering similar initiatives in his county back in 2021, with programs that have since been replicated nationwide.
On social media, residents have hailed Njuki as ahead of his time, lauding his leadership and vision, which now appear to have set a precedent across the country.
"What Oscar Sudi is doing today happened in Tharaka Nithi County some time ago. We lead, others follow," Bonface Reche wrote on Facebook.

In 2021, through the Tharaka Nithi County Youth Empowerment Program, young people who submitted compelling proposals received essential equipment to establish sustainable income-generating ventures.
Beneficiaries were provided with car wash machines, dairy goats, posho mills, tents and chairs, threshing machines, water pumps and tanks, incubators, animal pellet-making machines, brick-making machines, fuel dispensers, outside catering equipment, sunflower seed oil extraction machines, Tuk Tuks, and more.

Beyond economic initiatives, political commentators have also praised Njuki’s visionary leadership in the health sector. His Community Health Promoters (CHPs) program, first introduced in Tharaka Nithi, has now been adopted by the national government.
"When we say Governor Muthomi Njuki is a visionary leader and our kingpin, we are absolutely right. He launched the CHPs program, which is now part of the national health system. Road marshals remain active, and the government is now championing youth empowerment, an initiative His Excellency started five years ago," Humphrey Gacere commented on Facebook.
