Governor Muthomi Njuki has come out guns blazing, targeting critics who were once his allies and have been dragging his name into political battles within the county.

A visibly agitated Njuki, speaking during a certified seeds distribution exercise on Thursday, said his name had long been used to settle political scores by leaders in the region, branding them as attention seekers.

"I have done everything I possibly can in this county, yet those who are moving around insulting me have nothing substantial to accuse me of," Njuki said.

He urged his critics to uphold respect in their political engagements, accusing them of deliberately sowing disunity and chaos for personal gain.

"I have seen some leaders misuse the Constituency Development Fund to renovate already existing infrastructure in the same area just to claim credit for projects. That is a waste of public resources. In 2013, after being elected Member of Parliament (MP), I spearheaded numerous development projects in Chuka/Igambang’ombe that I am proud of to date," he added.

The Governor reminded his critics that he was not in competition with them, emphasizing that he had already served his terms as both MP and Governor.

"You can be successful without dragging my name. I will not vie for the MP seat, and my tenure as Governor, according to the constitution, is coming to an end. Flex muscles with those you are competing with for those positions, not me. The same people I campaigned for are now busy attacking me," Njuki said.

This is not the first time the Governor has hit out at his critics. A few weeks ago, he engaged in a similar war of words, accusing certain leaders of spreading propaganda that the registration of names at Cheera Market was a scheme to file a court case and halt the market’s construction. Njuki dismissed the allegations as malicious attempts to divide the people and urged the leaders to seek more meaningful strategies for political mileage.

Other projects that have sparked debate between Njuki and his critics include the construction of Chuka KMTC, Chuka Modern Market, and Natasha Memorial Hospital in Kibugua.
