MP Kareke Mbiuki's Personal Assistant, Timothy Kinegeni, has come out to defend his boss's track record in Maara Constituency, drumming up support for his gubernatorial ambitions in 2027.

While speaking at Kiini in Mitheru Ward on Wednesday, Kinegeni asked members of the public to elevate Kareke without conditions, assuring them that whatever remains in development will be completed after the next elections.

"Since 2013, when Maara became an independent constituency, whatever development projects you see around are under the patronage of Kareke Mbiuki. Ignore the critics and elect him without conditions. Let us give him more responsibilities and question him afterward if he will not have done anything," Kinegeni said.

"What has not been done yet will be done after 2027. Those complaining that nothing has been done here, like Prof. Erastus Njoka, have not done anything themselves. They have no track record, yet they are busy shouting the loudest that nothing has been done," he added.

Kinegeni noted that 16 day secondary schools had been newly constructed under Kareke Mbiuki's tenure, adding that the percentage of households connected to electricity had also significantly increased.

"When Kareke was elected, only a few areas were connected to electricity. Only a few households remain, which the MP is following up on. You will still hear some leaders say nothing has been done in Maara, yet work has been done," he said.

Kinegeni also said the MP had made great strides in bursary allocations.

Commenting on Muraga Technical Institute Kiini Campus, Kinegeni noted that Kareke was following up on the matter and would come up with a lasting solution soon, to assist the institution in getting back on its feet after it faced challenges in management and enrollment.

"We will come up with a lasting solution to ensure the institution bounces back and learning resumes. We should not politicize the matter. I heard a leader say they are going to follow up with the PS — as who?" Kinegeni remarked.
