Tharaka-Nithi Governor Muthomi Njuki has declared that the county will rally behind the government if promises made to residents are fulfilled by the 2027 general elections.
The Governor noted that major development promises made in previous elections are yet to be fulfilled, despite the region overwhelmingly voting for the Kenya Kwanza government—drawing contrast to opposition areas that have received significant development projects.
Njuki announced that the tender to redesign the notorious Nithi Bridge, worth KShs 7 billion, has already been awarded, adding that its construction would be a litmus test for the government ahead of the next general elections.
"All promises made to the people must be delivered to guarantee our votes. We are fully behind the government, but we are destined to vote for a government that will deliver projects to us," he said.
Ongoing projects include:
- KShs 112 million Chogoria Modern Market
- KShs 350 million Chuka Modern Market
- KShs 60 million Gatunga Modern Market
- KShs 1.2 billion housing project in Chuka
- KShs 720 million last-mile electricity connectivity targeting 7,400 households
Other projects include:
- KShs 180 million Phase 2 Kirumi Kia Mujari and
- KShs 90 million Kibung'a Kakimiki water projects
- Construction of Chogoria–Weru, Kaanwa–Kamutiria, Keria–Magutuni roads, among others

The Governor was speaking in Chogoria Ward, where he commissioned the Mpuri–Kiego Bridge. He announced that the county government has so far constructed over 16 bridges in Maara Constituency.
Other key projects in the constituency under the Muthomi Njuki administration include:
- Construction of Kajiunduthi Stadium
- Tarmacking of the Katharaka–Mukui–Mumbuni road (ongoing)
He further announced that the county government would oversee the maintenance of the Mitheru–Kaanwa road and the elevation of Chogoria to municipality status.
